Volunteer Opportunities for Non-Attorneys

ANSWER CALLS ON OUR LANDLORD TENANT HOTLINE

The landlord and tenant hotline is intended to provide information on the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants.  Advocates (non-attorneys) are trained by LAOC to respond to calls by giving general information and resources.  The advocate does not provide legal advice.  Advocates should strive to return calls within 24 hours, Monday through Friday.  Advocates volunteer for one week at a time, typically consisting of an overall time commitment of approximately two hours.

Hotline advocates answer questions on many topics related to rental housing such as:

  • Rental Agreements/Leases
  • Discrimination
  • Evictions
  • Repair Problems
  • Security Deposits
  • Ending a Tenancy
